Walpole lies on the River Blyth, 3 miles southwest of Halesworth and just 10 miles from the coast at Southwold. The village has around 200 residents and is linked to the nearby village of Cookley which has a population of just over 100.
The church of St. Mary sits in the village dating back to the 12th Century, with the tower and aisle remaining entirely still to this date. Walpole also features Walpole Old Chapel which was converted from two farmhouses in the 17th Century.
