Spexhall is a small and well dispersed rural parish about 3 miles from Halesworth with Bungay around 7 miles to the north; the village is surrounded by picturesque countryside and farms.

The parish church of St. Peter was built on high ground giving beautiful views over the Blyth Valley. The oldest part of the church dates to around 1150, but it is possible that it stands on the site of an even earlier building.

The village pub, Huntsman & Hounds, was originally a coaching inn that dates back to the late 15th Century.
