The village of Peasenhall lies at the junction of 2 Roman roads with a tributary of the River Yoxrunning through the village; this is by way of a brook with bridges across at various points.
It is situated around 7 miles from Framlingham, Halesworth and Saxmundham and has a good selection of local shops and amenities as well as a primary school and a parish church, St. Michael’s dating back to the 15th Century.
It is thought the name Peasenhall was derived from ‘Pisenhalla’ – or ‘a valley where peas grow’ with a settlement in the village since Roman times. More recently, local volunteers held a number of Pea Festivals to raise money for the maintenance of the Assembly Hall.
The village is popular with visitors and there are many thriving holiday cottages in the area.
