Holton is a large parish just 1 mile from Halesworth and only 8 miles from Southwold to the west. It is often referred to as Holton St. Peter and is split into 2 parts, Upper Holton and Holton Village.

The village is rich in history; its main landmark is the 18th Century post mill, built in 1749, which looks out onto the village. In Upper Holton, there is an old airfield and a World War Two airfield memorial museum. Further south is the church of St. Peter which dates back to the early 12th Century, but parts of it may be older. It also has a double roof, claimed to have been used by smugglers who brought their loot up the nearby River Blyth.

There are around 1,100 residents in the village and the community offers an array of B&B’s, a village hall and a primary school.
