About Chediston
Chediston is linked with neighbouring parishes of Linstead Parva and Linstead Magna and is located 3 miles west of Halesworth with the B1123 running through the village. Despite covering a sizeable area, the parishes have a small population of just under 200.
Chediston has some great history to discover. Excavations just outside St Mary’s Church have uncovered a burial thought to have once been a Saxon church, as well as the remains of a minor Roman settlement.
The church stands on sloping ground above the River Blyth and dates to at least the late Norman period. A number of houses in the village are made of traditional timber framed structure and are of historical interest.
