COVID-19 Positive News for Home Buyers and Sellers

Despite what you may read in newspapers’ headlines, the housing market continues to function.

Of course, there are social distancing and isolation issues to plan for when moving but the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020 enacted yesterday “to prevent anyone leaving their home without reasonable excuse” specifically states that a reasonable excuse includes “the need to move house”.

The legislation also specifies restrictions on social gatherings, limiting these to no more than two people but again an exception has been made to “facilitate a home move”. Accommodation providers are also now permitted to provide accommodation for everyone involved “while moving house.”

Working from home, our estate agents continue to receive calls from prospective house buyers enquiring about homes coming to the market and by buyers wanting further details of properties which we are already advertising on our website and on Rightmove.

Our lettings and management team remain as busy as ever across the range of its activities, putting new homes on the market to rent, arranging new tenancies, managing existing tenancies and administering tenancies as their Assured Shorthold letting agreements come to an end.

So, the housing market does continue to function.

Flick and Son very much remains open for business whilst all calls into our offices are routed directly to our estate agents working from their homes until we can re-open our branches.
