The new guidance states: The Regulations apply from 1 July 2020 to new tenancies that began on or after 1 June 2020 and to existing tenancies from 1 April 2021.
This contradicts previous published guidance (repeatedly confirmed) from the Government on this issue.
If correct, this afternoon’s change brings thousands of private rented sector properties into scope and in need of an EICR this Summer, rather than by April 2021.
